Buzzzzz~~ Mozzie Mozzie
First up, the IRC training program has been postponed till further notice as we have decided to totally revamp the training module. While preparing the training materials, I came across this interest piece of fact and after speaking to many people, realise that they are unclear about one particular mode of transmission.
We get this question very often on our hotline, "Don't mosquitoes suck blood ?". We all know HIV is transmitted through body fluids such as semen, vaginal fluids, breast milk and blood. So why don't mosquitoes pass on HIV since they suck blood ?
- Only the insect's saliva is injected into the person bitten, NOT its own blood or previous person’s blood.
- HIV cannot reproduce and cannot survive for long within the insect
- The amount of blood ingested is very small
- Mosquitoes don't usually move immediately from one person to another.
Interesting ehh. Pass it on. Educate someone !

Citibank-YMCA Youth for Causes 2010
|
Got what it takes ?
|
Piloted in 2002/2003 to commemorate the centennial celebrations of both Citibank and YMCA in Singapore, the Citibank-YMCA Youth
For Causes programme has proven to be a runaway success. It has since grown from strength to strength, receiving prestigious
endorsement on a national level by President S R Nathan as an event of President's Challenge 2010.
The Citi Foundation has quadrupled its 'seed funding' for the programme to S$160,000, up from S$40,000 during its pilot run in
2003. The programme is reinforced by a mentorship initiative, where project teams are guided by working professionals from
Citibank and YMCA of Singapore

|
In 2008, the Citibank-YMCA Youth for Causes was conferred the Singapore Youth Awards (Team) under the Community and Youth
Services category by the National Youth Council. The Singapore Youth Award is the highest youth accolade in Singapore. It
